Gram's 2nd Halloween

"OK guys, let's go trick-or-treating!!"

Last year, Gram was only 10 days old when we went out on Halloween. He was an adorable newborn bear. This year he was a tough, ferocious dinosaur!! Rarrr! (He even grawls, too.) We went out trick-or-treating before we went to the annual Whipple Halloween bash. Gram grabbed his cauldren, RAN down the street and followed his fellow neighbor kids to collect that candy! I was so surprised to see him act like he knew what he was doing, that he knew to go to people's houses. He trick-or-treats like a champ! He got quite a bit of candy for the 3 or 4 houses we went to, probably because he was so cute.

After that, Isaac, Gram and I walked home to pick up Gav to head out to the party. The Whipple party is always a blast. They make their famous Santa Fe Chicken soup along with other soups and serve them in pumpkin bread bowls. They also make homemade donuts! So cute. We visited with our friends while Gram ran around with Lydia Tran and Addison Whipple. Those girls are too sweet. All in all, this was a super sweet Halloween for my precious little love bug. Happy Halloween everyone!!!

{I wasn't exaggerating about him running down the street! We couldn't keep up.}

Gram's First Birthday Party!!

Oh. My. Gosh. Our little baby Gram is turning ONE! He is the most beautiful, perfect, crazy and hilarious little critter we could ever ask for. This last year has been incredible, filled with more laughs and joy anyone could even dream of. I highly suggest any married couple to jump on the bandwagon and pop them babies out! They make everyday greater than the last. I know our little boy sure does!

So, it's not everyday your first born little prince turns one! So naturally, we had to invite our friends and family to come celebrate this perfect man's big day. I started looking for party themes about a month ago. Hey, I wanted the party to scream, "Gram!" Haha. After narrowing it down to "bugs and dirt", we had to pick out decorations, plan out the food, and send out invites to our guests. All this week and half of last week I spent making trips to several stores to find the right things we needed for our get together. Who knew the work it took to throw a baby's party?? Haha.

We had hamburgers and hotdogs that Gav grilled up for everyone. We had fruit, macarons and "worm pasta" along with all mud pies, dirt cake and camoflauge cupcakes I made. After hanging out and grubbin' (as Gav always says) we all headed over to sing "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Gram! He was standing with everyone circled around him singing and oh wow did he love the attention. The look on his face was priceless, like... "Is everyone singing for me?!?" He loved it. After we helped him blow out the candle, he had to do the traditional thing and make a mess of his cake! He mostly just played with a worm he picked off until I stuck both his hands in the cake. Haha. Now on to presents!! Our friends and family spoiled him with some great things like a red wagon, play guitar, basketball hoop, play drums, books, high-top sneakers and a baby Lego wagon. Thank you all for coming and bringing some seriously awesome gifts! :)

MEXICO!!

My mother-in-law, Tami, asked us to join her and Sam in Rocky Point this past weekend. Umm, hmm.. let me think about it....haha. Very spontaneous! So, we threw our swimsuits and flip flops in our bags and off we went! But not til I picked up my baby's birth certificate of course. Can't leave the country without that! We stayed in an awesome suite at Las Palomas, which I highly recommend. Our spacious condo was Tuscan meets Modern, if you can imagine, and it was beautiful. We had all day Saturday, Sunday and a half a day Monday to spend soaking up the sun and enjoying each other.

Saturday we got up early and went to the shore. It was Mr. Grammer's first time to the beach (and out of the country). Omg he loved it! Couldn't figure out what the sand was for, though. Haha but he slowly learned to walk on it and then he began to really enjoy the beach. The waves were probably the best part for him. He did love navigating his way around that rocky stuff? Not sure what it really is exactly. But he was very smart and learned quickly that that's not the stuff you want to crawl on.

After playing at the beach and making a few videos of his first experience, we headed over to the pool. Gav took Gram in his little floaty toy around in the lazy river. They are too precious!! We chilled around the pool eating those dang good casadillas and sipping fruity drinks. What else could a girl ask for?! That night we went in to "town" to a Mexican restaurant that overlooked the ocean. You can't go to Mexico without ordering some questionable, dirty tacos. Haha. For dessert we went to Thrifty Ice Cream (our little Mexico tradition). Eww, I never want to eat again :)

Sunday we did the beach again, then Gav and his dad Sam went golfing. The course looked so incredible, it made this girly girl want to golf. They had an amazing time while Tami enjoyed a massage and I played with Grammy. (Last time I got a massage in Mexico, I got my lady parts rubbed down with mud? Not sure if that's standard procedure down there but here in America, that's called molestation. Haha). So after, we went to the pool to soak up more sun and sip those fruity drinks. The boys joined us and we chatting in the kiddie pool while Gramercy ate rocks. We then showered up and headed out to dinner. Al Capone's Pizza is where we went! They have huge flat screen TV's and play American sports all day. But really, the pizza is amaze. Wish we had Al Capone's in AZ.

Monday morning we enjoyed the beach, then packed up our stuff and said goodbye to that mesmerizing water. We went into town for some little Mexican trinkets for Gram Bam. I got him a little scull necklace which I'm pretty sure I got ripped off on. Dumb American. Before we made that 4 hour drive, we picked up some more Thrifty to go, please! Oh, and don't forget those home-made tortillas on your way out of the country! Thank you Mexico for an incredibly fun trip, once again. And thank you Guthries for wanting to share this much needed vacation with us! (Ok, ok, we just got back from our last vacation less than a week ago. But we did need to see the beach!!)

Idaho with the Guthries

[Gram and I outside the house we stayed at]

This past weekend all of the Guthrie's flew into Idaho Falls to see their old stomping grounds! It was seriously one of the most fun vacations! We stayed at one of their old family friend's houses in Sugar City and the friend left us the whole house to ourselves. So sweet.

Friday, the morning we flew in, we picked up Hanna at her hotel and went to Denny's for breakfast. After that we went to the house and all took naps! (Some of of had been awake since 2 a.m. to make this very early flight.) When everyone was rested, we went to drive around town to some of their old houses they lived in. They lived in Rexburg, Aberdeen, and Hibbard in about 6 different houses. It was really cool getting to see where Gavin grew up because now I can understand more about how his childhood was. We then went to visit Terri Beckley, an old family friend. She was adorable and sweet and gave us some awesome fresh apples from her backyard.

 {Gram playing in the beautiful backyard}

Saturday we got lunch at Arctic Circle and went to one of the neighborhood parks to eat. Arctic Circle is an American Fast food place that rivals In-n-Out! They use to go there a lot as kids, so of course we had to test it out and make sure it was just as good as they remembered. It was. The park we went to was beautiful! They used to play baseball there and get together with friends. The parks in Idaho are huge, green, and gorgeous. I wish we could live next to beautiful parks such as these! A couple times a day we would go to Mother Hibbard's gas station! We probably went here about 5 times during the trip. I mean, they have penny candies!!

(He loves the front seat, and his daddy!)

Later we drove out to Aberdeen. Seriously it is the smallest town I have ever seen! It was hard picturing all the Guthries living there because it's so tiny. They have some of their most fun memories in this small town. We drove to see their two houses they lived in, the church, and the schools. Then we went to a little hole in the wall Mexican joint for some tacos, tortillas and bean dip. We headed to Idaho Falls after to see the temple. So beautiful! There are amazing parks to play in and walk through.

{My sexy husband and beautiful baby and I in front of Snake River, Idaho Falls}

(Matchy matchy)

Right across the Snake river we met up with Gavin's childhood friend Spencer Ward, his wife and baby Jett at The Sandpiper. Dinner outside by the fire over looking the river and the temple? Yes, please!! So Gavin hasn't seen Spencer since he was about 13?? They have grown up to be exactly a like! He married his wife a few months before Gav married me. We have babies just 2 months apart. And omg Spencer's humor is just like Gav's!! They like the same movies and hobbies, ect. His wife was pretty similar to me as well. Haha, these small town boys! So cute.

{Gram 11 months and Jett 9 months}

[Gavin and Spencer]

Sunday, the manly boys golfed while the rest of us went to see more of the houses and visit Tami's Aunt and Uncle. One of the houses was bull dosed and a Quadding store took it's place! We met the boys at Applebees for lunch, then back to the house for more relaxing! (Oh, but of course we had to hit up Albertsons to take care of our sweet cravings! We got an insane amount of junkfood. De-lish.) The family is fun to just sit around and joke with. So many fun personalities and there were 14 of us, so never a dull moment. We spent the rest of the day watching football, The Advengers and just getting to know each other better. Finally we turned in for the night at 1 am after eating just a little bit more junk food. Hehe.

(Gram eating grass at Uncle Butch's house)

Monday we woke early, cleaned, packed and headed to the airport. Unfortunately, at the airport Gav was pit pocketed walking out of the bathroom and lost his iPhone. I feel so bad for him! I'm trying to convince him to just upgrade to an iPhone 5 today to cheer him up, so we'll see!

I'm so glad Gram and I could join the Guthrie clan and get a taste of what they had for so many years. Maybe someday we can go back and do it all again. Well, that was one more incredibly fun filled weekend we can thank the Guthries for!!

(This boy loooves suckers!)
